Arsenal Stun Barcelona
Arsenal took an emphatic win over Spanish club giants Barcelona last night. The win is great for the Arsenal team who have really improved this reason. The consensus before the game was that it would be a great spectacle but Barca would win. Barcelona are widely regarded as the best club team in the world will a team full of world class players, world cup winners, and indisputably the best player in teh world, Lionel Messi.
Having played each other ten months earlier, Barca took a 4-1 victory so it was not unreasonable to expect a similar result. Sadly for the Spanish club, Arsenal are also a force to reckoned with, the lack of injuries making them a real threat. They still have young stars like Jack Whilshire who won’t need to use hand cream for a few years yet, but their passion and pace combined with the tactical nous and special awareness of players like Fabreagas and Nasri makes for a devastatingly effective side.
And devasting Arsenal proved. After an even firts 5-10 minutes Barca began to use their massively effeicient passing abilities to great effect, Messi missed a sitter and Barca continued to dominate. Villa managed to infiltrate Arsenal’s high line as Villa scored in teh 26th minuteth minute. Arsenal had no time for Spa products at half time and were clearly given a motivation, rousing speech which inspired them because they came out in the second all guns blazing.
On balance, honours were even in the 2nd but Arsenal deserved their equaliser, a stunning goal from Van Persie at an impossibly tight angle. Valdes didn’t even move and was visibly shocked. The Gunners piled on the pressure and Ashavin got a skill full second goal soon after coming on for Song. The game will remain in Arsenal’s history at least as one of the memorable wins ever Body scrub after to get the sweat off.
