The Key To Better Golf

Golf players may not always share the same opinions – except in one area of the game. That area of the game happens to be maintaining balance in your swing. Yes, it sounds pretty easy if you think about it. But anyone will tell you that it can be very, very difficult and next to impossible if your arm and shoulder muscles are stiff and youre holding on to your club as if your life depended on it.

Swing lightly and dont hit the ball so hard – this is common advice to beginners. Instead of swinging the club like a Major League Baseball slugger and ending up with an epic miss, a smooth drive would get the ball where it should be. If youre balanced, you have more freedom when hitting the ball.

Keep your head and your eyes steady at all times. Steadiness is important if you want a better view of the ball. This should be the foundation of every effort you make to maintain the proper balance. Without the proper steadiness, youll end up missing your shot dramatically as you wouldnt be able to see the ball properly. You must keep your head still and not move it from the spot in which you start.

Stiffness of body and muscles is the last thing you need when trying to maintain balance. Unless you relax your muscles, your head is going to move.

The best way to practice would be in front of a mirror – notice how your tense muscles will only lead to your head moving inadvertently. Everyone has their own set of muscles. Which means it would be necessary to develop your own style. But in any case, keeping your head still is something you need to follow. You know by now that this allows you to see the ball clearly, but this would also help you in moving your hands at the right time.

This could also be a quick and easy way for you to improve on several weaknesses at once. If you have an awkward grip on your club, chances are this would be because you moved your head slightly or lost some balance. And you cant keep your balance unless you follow through correctly.

Set your mind on keeping your head still and maintaining the right balance and youll avoid the pitfall of swinging too hard or moving your club awkwardly. You wont put forth too much effort forth at any one point. You can avoid being stiff and improve the smoothness of your swing and the finishing kick needed for a successful stroke.

Different professionals may tell you many things, but its all about balance when it comes to improving your game. However, it may take a while to perfect your technique, so dont rush things. If you maintain the right balance at every point of your game and keep your head still, you have everything you need to eventually excel in golf.
